The thor tasks were moved into merb-gen last I heard from them. I don't remember using them at all of late, however. If memory serves me, there were 2 main tasks one would want the merb thor tasks for: staying on merb edge and bundling. Bundling is handled through Bundler now. As for the stay-on-merb-edge thing, you don't really need a task at all for this since the latest repo changes. Just pull the merb repo and gem build. There was a sake file floating around, but I don't think it works anymore.
