So, the 1990 300D 2.5 arrived via shipping from New Orleans for my wife- I'm sad to say that it has a few problems. I think they can be fixed at a reasonable cost- can anyone tell me rough numbers?
1. Broken Windshield 2. Rear Muffler 3. Motor Mounts 4. Alignment (steering wheel upside down!) 5. Fuel leak on a small piece under hood, photo at www.immersionstudio.com/images/fuel.jpg -- what is this piece?? Of course, the motor mounts make the thing sound like a Mack truck- unbelieveable difference between my 1991which has 71k. It shakes like crazy. In the end, the sad thing is that my wife will probably not want to keep the car and I'll need to sell it. She thinks it is just too "rough" for her. Should I sell it as is or do the above repairs? I paid 6k plus shipping. My 1991 was 7500, a much better deal as it turns out! It needed nothing. Other than the windshield and muffler, the other items on your "to do" list don't strike me as either expensive or difficult to rectify. The car looks nice, and the price sure was right, so why not re-consider selling until you've had it a bit longer? Looks like a great deal to me.
