That is SO true. The suckers are out buying fuel line magnets and air-intake turbulators, along with that PVI platinum vapor injection widget, which combined will give them 239% improvement in MPG. Oh and let's not forget radar jammers and insect-repelling whistles. There are lots of snake oils and other money-wasting items on the market. Group IV/V synthetic oils are not among them.
