I agree with you 100 percent. I was raised in a house with loaded guns available all the time, and we never played with them. We were taught what guns could do. We watched livestock and game die from a gunshot, so the danger was impressed on us. Nowadays, folks don't want to "traumatize" their kids, so the kids never really KNOW the dangers of discharging a firearm.
Also, Mr. Policeman and his ilk think that because they took a one-hour course in firearm training at the academy, they should be the only ones allowed to carry weapons because they KNOW how to handle them. I think the weapons should be taken away from the cops for a while so they could experience being disarmed while the criminals preyed on them. I think they would change their tune. Just my 2 cents.
