My lack thereof is why I took myself out of Pensacola flight training (forfeiting a $1 million opportunity of training). Really pissed off some USCG folks, which is why I retired as an O3.
Hey, I saw some friends get really dead in our aircraft when I was a Petty Officer. I wasn't going to kill any more of us. Pilots should have a knack for flying, and I lacked that. Yes, I pissed off some Marine flight instructors for landing too smoothly, but landing is 1% of flying. I chose to let those with natural talent for this sort of thing ... well, do it. I'd have made a great airline pilot. I can a fly an airplane smoothly. I just don't know where I am w/out instruments.
