Yeah, I understand.  I thought It'd be tough to increase sunlight on the
area without cutting trees or installing an array of mirrors - just wanted
to emphasize the point that lack of is a significant part of the problem;
moss likes shade; 'doesn't like sunlight; 'also likes compacted, acidic
(sour) soil.

I have a nice crop of moss on the brick walkways in our herb garden
immediately adjacent to and on the North side of an outbuilding.  The area
with the moss never gets direct sunlight,and gets abundant water off the
building roof.  'Just shows, though, that moss doesn't really need soil to
grow very nicely.  In our case, the moss adds "character," and I'm not
trying to grow anything else there.
