Loosing the alternator in the rain is a classic symptom of a belt that's too loose.

When attempting to start the car on Sun. AM to go to church, all I got was a sickly buzzing sound for ~ 13 sec. and then it stopped. All the other dash lites (e.g., Charge indicator, Brake pad wear indicator, Brake warning lamp, and Seat belt warning lamp) are on, but the Preglowing indicator lamp is not lit and of course there's no activation of the starter. The sickly buzzing sound mentioned appears to be coming from the rectangular box where the glow plug fuse is located, and all other fuses and electrics appear fine. Anybody got any clue as to what to look for? I connected the battery, which is only a couple years old, to my Battery Tender for >24H without any effect. TIA. G. M.
