I'd love to have a short machete type knife. A friend picked one up at a garage sale for a couple of dollars that is really solid. We did a group bbq at a park and he was using it to split small wood for the fire. Worked better than a hatchet. I believe the blade was somewhere between a foot and 18 inches long and the back of the blade was somewhere in the 1/8 to 1/4 inch range. So quite solid.
