A test for a bad rear half axle is to weave left and right at speed; if the noise changes, then the side to investigate is the opposite of the turning direction when noise is louder (ex. Turn left, noise increases, this means that right side axle/bearings are suspect).

What you have described could be a CV joint. But I'm not certain - not without hearing/feeling it. Which is a bit difficult to do via email. Usually I see leaking oil before the joint fails - but not always. Twice I have had one fail with the boot undamaged and the oil still in it. One of those manage to split one of the steel balls in half! It made a dreadful racket. -- Philip _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
