It's a Wisconsin thing. Wisconsin is known for its prodigious number of dairy farms, and is one of the largest dairy product producing states in the nation. Wisconsinites, also known as "cheeseheads", are proud and willing consumers of such things. You'll experience things such as cheese curds, butterburgers, etc., as you travel throughout the state. A butterburger, what most would refer to as a hamburger, is really a steak sandwich, consisting of ground chuck or round made into a patty and fried on a griddle in copious amounts of butter. So much so that if it is done correctly, the butter will literally drip off of the sandwich onto your arms and/or clothing while consuming it. It is placed on a "hard roll", not a "bun" if done correctly. Both sides of the hard roll are brushed with butter as well. It can be served with cheese (of course!) and condiments as one desires. Also, you will find that what appears to be "soft serve" ice cream is really frozen custard, another delicacy. This is made on site daily at Kopps and other such places (there are many!) in various flavors and served with related goodies. Kopps publishes their list of flavors of the day monthly so you know what days to go for your favorite flavor. http://www.kopps.com/ Now you've got me 'pinin for Wisconsin. Dang. Dan
