Marshall was obviating the obvious by demonstrating the multiplication of force (in this, the weight of several carboys of B100, which can be depicted as a downward vector acting upon the rear axle) as applied by use of a lever, particularly in reference to storage and transportation of alternative fuels in Mercedes sedans.
