I will no doubt keep the old belt in the trunk, along with whatever wrench
is necessary to yank on the idler wheel for installation -- but the chances
of the serpentine belt breaking are pretty remote, since it is so new. ...
Haven't had the car very long, so I'm not that far into the ownership plan.

My point was that the 240D carries a full toolbox, while the LeSabre has
just the one belt back there. Come to think of it, I could probably do
anything within my skill set necessary on the 240D out of the trunk, 500
miles from home -- 2 quarts of Mobil 1, a jug of Benz coolant, all three
belts, fuel filters, spare glow plugs, etc.

Guess I drive the 240 expecting it to break!
