Peter,

Road taxes depend on the state, I believe, and unfortunately some of them
have changed tax code to allow waivers for folks who "make" their own fuel.

Actually, it's pretty nasty in soil -- it will wash out and coat  
local waterways with a film that prevents oxygen getting into the  
water, making the waterway anaerobic and killing all the water  
creatures.  On top of that, it's going to spoil and stink to high  
heaven for a couple years -- very poor air exchange in oil saturated  
soil, after all, so the anaerobic bugs will do the job.  Think a  
rancid sewer line.  Very bad.

And yes, you do owe road taxes on all vehicle fuel, even if you make  
it yourself.
