I think this is a big part of what adds to a cars value, especially cars
that were made in such large numbers as mercedes.  Once 30+ years pass, most
are gone.  Of the ones left, most are junk or projects.  Give it a few more
years, where those projects are either junked or parted out for spares, and
the ones left start to rise.  The rare stuff always get the attention first,
like the 6.3.  To do the body on a sedan cost the same to do right, whether
it's a 6.3, or a much more common car.  So before people start picking up a
4.5 and paying serious money for them, all the 6.3 have to pretty much be
out of reach to the average enthusiast.

Around here, a good W123 will bring as much money as a W124, but try to find
a good one.  As history has shown too, things that can make their roof go
down, tend to bring more money, although such cars have never done it for
me.
