Salesgirl at one of our local BMW shops drivers a Cooper S. Not really much
to compare between the old original minis, and what is offered today. I've
been in a number of old ones, and while they are great fun, you could never
build a car like that today. Not if you plan on selling it in any developed
nation anyway.

The new ones seem as though they're bolted together quite well. If there is
a drawback, they are a small market, and I think most parts are specific to
mini, so parts availability are pretty much limited to the dealer, when
things start to fail in time. I haven't heard of any real issues with the
new ones.

I've never really worried about the cost of fuel, as I don't log that many
miles to be honest. But with traffic what it is in the city, driving and
parking is becoming a real pain. The mini and W212 are on my short list
when it becomes time to replace the mini van in 2-3 years.
