I think heat was an option through most of the 60s in detriot iron. I remember my uncle in HI had a company car that I think was about a 64 valiant.

It was dangerous in rain, because it could not defrost because it had no heat and no AC. No need for heat or AC in Hawaii, but how often does it rain in Hilo, or somewhere on the island of Hawaii? Defrogging was a necessity.

No A/C or heat?  No A/C makes sense but I would have thought all cars
had heat by '48.  Especially one like that which was a higher-end car.
