Computer is USB only, and I don't have a ps/2 to usb adaptor at the moment
[two on order]. I could buy a new adaptor, but the only ones I can find are
$14 and a new keyboard is only $12 - and I have 5 already but 4 are ps/2 and
the other is the usb that quit working - oh, and I did try mom's new usb
keyboard with no response. It could be some odd combination of things I just
have not tried as yet. For the moment I will just keep using this old one
my wife plays solitaire on and wait for my adaptors to arrive or my bank
account to recover.

If it acts the same with three different software boots, it's
probably hardware.

Is it a USB or PS2 keyboard? Do you have one of the other type
you can try?

Or stick in a USB card and try a USB keyboard in that.

If none of that works - I'd guess motherboard troubles.
