$20 at the VA hospital canteen for a Tracfone with 365 days of service and 20 minutes included, a $20 airtime card would give you another 90 days and a couple more hours of talk time. Get a car charger for the phone, throw phone/charger in the glove box, maybe get a 2nd phone for the other car, and you're out half the $299 purchase price of one OnStar.
