Call the fellow and tell him you are talking to attorney and any further communication will be with him. Then go get said attorney. Usually the offer increases when attorney is mentioned

Well just heard from the insurance company and they
are going to total my 85 300CD 87K mi and are offering
$5000. NADA clasic book is $8850 and all I can find
that is low mileage is in the $12000 to 17000 range.
All I really want is for them to fix my car but they
are being well .....cheap and lazy. What irks me most
is they say since we have determined it's totaled we
will not pay for storage at the body shop and we won't
pay for your rental car after Wed. So all they have
to do is say its totaled give you a low ball offer and
then you are stuck to suck it up until you get a
legitimate offer and foot the bill for transportation
in the mean time??? anybody got any ideas on how to
handle this?? I have asked for their offer in writing
along with the comparable cars they are using to
deterimne value. I know some of you will think $5K is
about right but try and find a low mileage one thats
not been neglected or needs alot I can't. Anybody who
knows of a prticularly nice turbo 300CD let me know.

Thanks
eric
