Hmmm - 'hope it works. 'Wonder if it has to be stop-drilled like aircraft sheet metal - a little round hole at the end of the crack to stop the crack - relieve stress.

Subject: Re: [MBZ] Windshield Crack Repair?

Found a repair guy who could come first thing. He said it was repairable,
and if it fails he'll refund my money. The warranty is good as long as I
own the car. We'll see how this works. It cost $60.

It may work then :-) I'll see what a glass repair guy says and make a
decision.

I'm no windshield guy, but I have done my share over the years, and in
doing so, had conversations with said repair guys about the wisdom of
fixing versus replacement.

It is my understanding that when there is a crack, more so a divot from a rock with cracks radiating out from it, that if they can stabilize the area
before the cracks spread the repairs work fairly well.

Once the cracks "spider web" out from the affected area there's little
they can do to prevent them from getting worse.
