I knew yesterday that I was over my head in trying to take the seat apart to do
the pad replacement. Impact hammer was not doing it. I figured auto
upholsterer would have a better chance. He said he could get it done before
Friday. Yippee!

Got a call around noon today and he has busted the Klippan buckle and can not
figure out how to make it back working. Little spring popped out and we do not
know how it goes in the body so the dang thing will work. Does anybody have
insight into this repair? 1974 SL, same buckles as used in 108 and finback S
series. Probably same as 115/114. Side button type.

Either way, I have a great seat, with new pads and will have it installed
tomorrow. May need to grab some type of PnP buckle, or futz with it for hours
until I make it work. $500 to do the job. He is 70 years old, has been doing
the since 1961. There is a Chris Craft mahogany run about getting new seats
and a 190SL that is getting a new soft top.

Whoever did the seat before this guy, on my SL, had used loctite on the bolts
and that was why I was not getting them off.
