Material goods are not appropriate in this situation. It's her
money too. Would you not be stealing from her purse and then
spending twice that amount on something she doesn't want very much or
she would have bought it herself?
Write her a poem instead. Perhaps you have never written
poetry and your effort is terrible. All the better. It shows your
personal effort and willingness to humble yourself in appreciation of
her efforts. Maybe get the kids to draw her a page of cartoons to
go with the poem. Add some flowers picked from the roadside. Then
all of you cook dinner for her.
