Yes it does say that but it also says that you can charge into a 10" vacuum. Then again if you get the newer Industrial ES-12a it can be charged into a complete vacuum or anything up to pressure.
I would not let any air into the system.

Another good thing about the ES-12 is they are longer molecules than even R-12 so that should mean that they will tend to leak through the original hoses a bit slower then the R134 or the R-12.

On my car (83 300D) the high side is behind and to the bottom of the Alternator in the high side pipe there. Hard to get to.

Also, where is the high side fitting? I bought the 134a adapters, but I can't seem to find the high side...
