After reading here lately about unhappiness and coping with life's problems I thought I should add a cheering note about unsolicited kindness.

I recently drove to the big city (Wheeling, WV) to visit my alternator/starter guy. His test showed the alternator OK, which pretty much pointed to the voltage regulator as the problem with my F700 truck. He said he couldn't test the regulator but suggested that for $12.30 a new one (made in China so it has to be good!) would put me back in business. As usual he was right. Now my firewood customers will be getting their stuff while the ground is still hard and I won't be tearing up their yards.

But to me the most interesting thing about the day's events was how helpful people were. I had a hip fracture operation about seven weeks ago and was walking with a noticeable limp. Little old ladies suddenly appeared to hold open doors for me. People carried things to my pickup when I visited a store. I was quite impressed. Makes me vow to pay more attention to other people needing help.

You have me there, but loosely, as I would be held.
