I have used the all plastic mighty vac hand held with good luck to troubleshoot. comes with fittings and generic instructions.

An assortment of literature/diagrams write ups have helped to.

Pep boys, Advanced Auto carries it. About 30-40 smackers I think. Here is a quick link of what one looks like.

There has been discussion about MityVac products in the past in conjunction with troubleshooting vacuum issues. Which products or products are being specifically referenced? I have looked at a MityVac product line and I see several items that might be of use but I am not sure which is the most applicable for general vacuum troubleshooting.
