Well, first thing tomorrow I check my blinker fluid. My Darling Wife had
exactly the same thing happen to her. Maybe the filter too.
But, in the meantime, my fine running 81 300SD has been getting 26 MPG just
about with every tank under different driving conditions. Suddenly it
dropped to 23, and now 22 after a 5 hour highway trip. I figured the around
town stuff was because I took the learned advice here and started to 'drive
it like I stole it' more often than not, but that would not explain the 22
MPG with about 2/3 interstate at a steady 78 MPG.
Furl return lines were wet on 1 and a bit on 2, changed 1, 2, & 3. Looks
fine now. The only change I made other than that was to switch from the
Rotella that came with my 'new' engine to Delvac. Can't imagine that would
cause it, though the time line shows that is when it started.. I don't see
any other leaks [but it is parked in a dirt/grass floor shed, so hard to
tell]. Anyone have a suggested 'next place to look?'
Tranny also varies from hard shifts [mostly when cold] to pretty smooth
[mostly when hot]. Would a switch to Mobil 1 ATF make any difference here?
Thanks for the good advice in the past.
A Merry Christmas / Holiday Season to all. [I would add, since it is almost
midnight here, 'And to all a good night', but the competition for poetic
license here is just too fierce.
