Fueleconomy.gov says 33mpg highway on premium which isn't bad for what is 
probably a very fun car but again much more expensive than the Fiesta...

The thing is I have a 110 mile daily commute, the 39 highway of the Fiesta, 
combined with low initial cost is what I'm looking at.

Try out a VW Jetta with the turbo gasser.  Drive smooth, handle excellent
and goes like mad.  Nice MPG too I hear.
