I was told the same thing when I paid big bucks to  have all the rust cut out, 
new steel welded in, new paint, etc on the  rusty side of my car (and had the 
rocker panels redone). Guy did a  GREAT job. Rest of the car is scratchy, but 
no rust, which is what  concerned me. Rust is the enemy.

It is usual to FORBID waxing a newly painted car for MONTHS! It can 
damage the paint/

A 93 would be front drive. I *THINK* a new yorker was still the midsize in
93, since the big car was an LHS (large heavy sled).
