That was the wake up call for sure! Frod thought they could produce a quality product by saying quality is job one, but it was not until the mid 80s when they contracted Mazda to build some transmissions for tauri, that they got a startk contrast in warranty claims, lots for frod, almost none for mazda, that frod FINALLY learned about the tools of quality and manufacturing to spec, not to a range.

I think getting their butts kicked by the Japanese may have had something to
do with it, even though there were millions of Americans that would NEVER
buy a Jap car.
