The switch is wired to a solenoid on the transmission. When pressed, the solenoid forces the transmission to down shift one gear.

But how does it work and what is missing that it can work? Whit the pedal to the floor, there is still a gap between the pedal arm and the switch. The switch works. I can hear it click if I push it with my finger..
