in a simplistic fashion, that torque gets you there and HP keeps you there.
My favorite simplistic is that, in a practical automotive sense, torque is acceleration, and horsepower is top speed. More torque is _way_ better than more horsepower --- and my 200D proves it. I'm sure our 190D 2.5 is much more powerful, but the lowly old 200D is way more drivable.
