I've had the pleasure of seeing the Sikorsky VS-300, the machine on which he honed the basic design of the modern helicopter, on display in the Henry Ford Museum. There's a film clip of Igor Sikorsky personally doing a demostration flight when he donated it in 1943.

It's a thoroughly ugly aircraft, but such an important one. :)
