Got the new steering gear into my 83 300TD today. It was a breeze. Less then 1 hour 45 min in all. Then I put the gear I took out of the TD and put it into the 300D because the one in there was a lot worse. I guess that practice pats off because that one only took an hour and a half. Drove the TD into town and it is like driving a new car. Just hold the wheel straight and keep going, no more having to wiggle the wheel to stay on line. I did an adjust on the box that I took out to put into the 300D but haven't had a chance to see how much better it is. The one in there had a lot of slop and no way to adjust it out due to the buggered up adjustment stud so that goes back as a core to be rebuilt. All in all a good day's fun.
