The rental house that I was working on several months ago sold last week, and
the money's in the bank!

Y'all may remember that I had a bit of a problem painting the ceilings at first
because of the stippling (not "popcorn") coming off onto the roller. Several
of you made great suggestions, which I do appreciate but none of which I
followed. I quickly learned that I could paint it, anyway, by keeping roller
wet and not rolling it back and forth - don't make more than one repeat pass
until the surface has dried. After a coat of paint has dried on it, I could
easily roll paint it at will.  Try not to make ANY repeat pass while it's wet;
can repeat lightly if it's done immediately, before the paint soaks though to
the mating surface and causes the stippling to separate from the ceiling. I
was able to camouflage/re-stipple small areas where I had "lost" stippling by
putting globs of caulking on end of a broomstick and touching it to the
ceiling. I can tell the difference, but I know where to look.

Owned the house for 34 years; had one tenant for 33 years.
