The thing is that the Chinesium stuff is generally "good enough" which makes it hard to justify the "real thing". For instance I put cheap Advance Auto calipers on my '83 240D years ago because they were what I could get on a Saturday afternoon. They lasted the whole 25,000 miles I had the car and never gave any trouble. It would have been hard to justify more expensive calipers. Same with the cheap rotors and pads I put on it. I'd bought the car for $400, the brake job cost another I think $250...
