Since around about the turn of the twentieth century. Some of George Pullman's
rail road cars were the height of luxury travel, and they were painted "Pullman 
Brown".
The actual reason they were painter brown it is said, is because brown doesn't 
readily show
dirt as much as other colors. Today’s UPS package cars are that same "Pullman 
Brown".
