I use acar now, I have the "pro" key and don't remember how restrictive it is without. It has reminders, fuel type, and so on, so you could track premium versus mid-grade for example. Acar supplanted "my cars" for me a year or two ago, but I don't remember why. I used my cars for several years and was reasonably happy with it. And of course Torque is awesome, if he sets up a Bluetooth OBD scanner he can watch instant, trip, and long term fuel usage according to the engine computer throughout the drive. Custom PIDs, too, if you can figure out what they should be.
