Actually, Germans and Italians too were interned, although not in numbers as large as the Japanese. The pendulum has swung in the other direction now, to the point where no one in power would see the danger that a Major Hassan posed to his fellow soldiers.
People in power have...power. Including LEOs. And as such, they must know there's a line they mustn't cross; and if they DO cross that line they must be smacked down.
