Ahhhh, the reality of economics. Something sadly missing in the world of politics when it comes to.. well, everything! Unfortunately, knowledge of economics seems to never be taught in our public schools. Of course it's not a "sexy" subject so students are hard to engage. But it's kind of like gravity - always there in the background working & there's nothing you can do to stop it....

It is possible to make hydrogen for fuel and oxygen to burn it out of a
tankfull of water. This can be a direct replacement for gasoline. However
the powers that be can't figure out how to tax and regulate it, so if you
persist in doing it, you won't live long.

It has been known for at least 70 years how to make synthetic Diesel and
gasoline out of coal, and it is a clean process. However, nobody is doing
it. It is very high quality fuel with Cetane higher than dino diesel.
