My AC stopped working a few days ago - not such a problem in January. I
checked the fuses and the metal was fine, but the 25A fuse body had melted
enough to shorten the fuse and break contact. Is this a somewhat normal
event? Haven't started the car yet, just wanted to make sure nothing else
weird was going on.

Bill,

There was a bulletin issued to add an external in line fuse for the blowers
on the 1981 and later 126 cars. I think it was about 35 amps. That should
solve your problem. I think both the AC fan and the aux ellectric radiator
fan run off the same fuse.

Funny thing is--Mercedes is still having the same problem, they issued a
bulletin for 98-2000 ML cars for the same thing. Also, I just read that the
05
cars have a bulletin to add an inline fuse. Looks like the engineers and the
bean counters better get together more often!
