Local tranny from PnP is in the $99 range.  I am assuming any trans from the 
1975-1979 era benz will work.  722.1xx  or is it .0xx?  Either way, I am not 
well versed on why the trans is producing more torque than the engine can 
defeat.  If I had a clean room, I would gladly do a rebuild with a kit.
