I wonder about the mileage on the 85 300SD. It looks like a lot of
blow by on the valve cover for only 121,400 miles. I don't get that
much blow by on my 80 300SD with around 425,000 miles. Plus, I got
well over 200,000 miles on the starter on both my 617s.
Just an observation.

Rode hard and put up wet?
If it never had oil changes it could be ready to expire at that mileage.
