I'm thinking too there might have been some significant differences in the intimate cultural exchanges (and methods thereof) you both had on your disparate jobs.

Ummm... not really Andrew.... but a nice fantasy, none the less..

Pretty sure the Peace Corps Manual has no sections on "Clandestine
Insertion" or "Securing Foreign Information for Transmittal to Section
Chief".

But, if you think so, drop in to that big building at Fort Meade, just down
the road from you. I'm sure you can just walk right in.. past the multiple
electrified fences.. Tell them I said Hi...

I could do the same thing in the Peace Corps sans worry and sans glock.

From what I could gather from the boy, when not "processing applications"
in the embassy or whatever, he was out in the bush going native, and had
Mr. Glock (or one of his friends) as a partner, but other than that,
yeah,

have
come into close contact.

ten-fo on the divorce...

Rule#1: Never volunteer for duty in a country with a name that ends in

If adrenaline is your drug, live in a foreign country while doing
clandestine work with only the cloth on your back for a support team. I
can't imagine why they might divorce.. ha.

I knew a guy who had been "defense attache" to Tajikastan or one of
those
garden spots, back in the early 90s. He could speak rooshan like a
native. He was a pretty crazy guy, Navy SEAL or something who got into
"that" side of the bidness. He had some crazy stories about the fun
times
in Tstan. I knew his wife pretty well, she was kinda whack too. They
ended up getting divorced, last I knew of her she was on hubby #3.

Ahhhhh.. "spook" is such an ugly term...
I much prefer "Cultural Attache" or "Minister of Information".
