Copper sulfate is extremely toxic and is readily absorbed through the  skin.  
Exposure to copper sulfate can cause liver disease, anemia,  and other 
debilitating problems.   I would use something else.

My 1.6L VW diesel nailed really loudly until I replaced the 
injectors...it had that classic bad injector sound that's often mistaken 
for a rod knock.  With new injectors it became pretty quiet at warm 
idle, with almost no clatter.  That engine had pretty low compression, 
though, I think, so it could be that's why it was quiet.
