Hmm, no responses. Well, I bought the book (not for $75 as advertised on
mbusa.com)...I'll let y'all know if there are any interesting insights into
our collective mentality that feeds the "love that never dies" (used in an MB
ad once, quite recently actually).

Here it is mentioned on owners-online:
  http://www.mbusa.com/features/enduring-passion/index.do

The book is written by a marketing man (same line of work as me) and
investigates, specifically, the BRAND, the cult and attraction of the brand,
what it means to people, etc. Sounds very interesting!

Does anyone recall from the article - was it a parallel hybrid (like prius) or
a series hybrid like a locomotive (SIMPLE!). I really hope their is a future
for series hybrids because you can actually work on those yourself! A company
in CA sells a series diesel hybrid city bus powered by a 1.6 liter TDI...yes,
a city bus.

  Thanks

It is. When Loren's mechanic got done with it, I couldn't bear to
part with it, and have been driving it daily (including some 600 mile
days) since.
