worthy of special designation when there are few (maybe no?) cars being sold
with carburetors anymore!

The "Si" on the Honda Civic Si originally stood for "sequential injection" (as opposed to a carburator or a batch-fire system.) The designation continues even though *all* Hondas now have sequential injection.
