Thats how the washing machine at my parents house works except it drains into a
pipe that goes across the street and drains into a pasture. The pipe is clay
and occasionally they'll be taking hay off the pasture and crush the end of the
pipe. One year that made my parent's house flood really bad when the big spring
rains came. When the water subsided we couldn't find the pipe. Eventually Dad
poured a gallon of heavy cream down the drain, the cream was easy to find in
the pasture. About 20 years ago Dad got a section of iron pipe that would just
fit in the clay pipe, we shoved it up in there and haven't had trouble since.

Maybe I should just cut a hole in the floor and stick the hose down there and
just let it drain under the house. Many years ago we used to live in a house in
the country when I was a kid and the washing machine was on a separate drain
pipe that just went out back and drained into the pasture.
