What's up with these zero-turn mowing things that cost more than any of
my Benzes (except the ML)? Damn, I would just mount some mower decks
under the TD and have at it for those prices. They start at like $3k
and go up from there.

Reminds me of the Wheel Horse I bought for our first house in 1984.
At that time it was old (like 15-20 years!). Sold it for more than I
paid for it.
I was amazed at parts availability. The mower deck had a bad bearing,
so I went down to the Ace Hardware in our town, who was also the
Wheel Horse dealer. I was sure they would turn me away due to the age
of it.
Amazingly, not only were the bearings still available, they had them
in stock! Seems that despite building a bazillion different mower
decks, they used the same bearings in all of them. I think they were
like $7/each.
Good old American engineering....

Too bad mtd has not heard of it! The plant had a troybuilt mtd
mower. the let side hung lower than the right. We had to do cutting
and welding to get it to hang level. The neighbor has a crapsman
mower (mtd) and it has the same problem. Lawn looks like crap because
one side cuts low and the other side cuts high.
Only way out of it is to buy a "commercial" mower or maybe a kubota or
an "antique" because everything else is made by mtd, cheap and
crappy, but expensive to buy.
personally, I'd like one of the old IH red ones (not the cub cadet
line) with the japanese Diesel. (just a rebranded yanmar or some
other japanese brand.)
