Yup.I bought a Vapalux lantern from a guy in Israel some years back. To save on 
shipping he took it down to its component parts so it fit in a very small box. 
The problem was I'd never even SEEN a Vapalux before and they're almost nothing 
like a Coleman...It took me a long time to get it back together and working 
correctly. At that point there wasn't anybody selling the correct mantles in 
the US so I had to modify a mantle from another lantern to work. Interestingly 
that mantle is still working good ~5 years later.

The ultimate challenge is to try and put something together without a manual. I 
have tried that myself and actually have been successful. Sometimes, I don't 
have anybody around to read the manual, and since it is not in Braille, I just 
go for it!
