Usedta be you had to phone home (to some paki) I think that is still how it works. you do a clean install, then call the Paki and explain what happened. THey give you a code and you put that in and pray it works.

I only did that with MSDN licenses, so it may be different for John q Public, but I called the same number.

What does one do with a Windows computer which has been authorized and
then has a disk crash?

Does Microsoft prohibit installing the same OS onto the second disk?

What about a laptop that has been damaged and one needs to move to a new
laptop?
